There are permanent sites mounted at various locations around Utah and else where. Two that are utilized by this office are the Antelope Island and East Ogden sites. Other Utah sites can be located by contacting the University of Utah Department of Geology and Geophysics. The data can be obtained on an ftp site which is maintained by the University of Utah for the purpose of monitoring seismic activity. This data can be reached by the following method.
It should be noted that the University has latitude and longitude data available for the site positions, however, it is the understanding of this Office that the values are not part of the HARN coordinate system. Although the data was originally based from HARN stations, the values have been adjusted for seismic and techtonic movement. To obtain the raw GPS observation data which can be used as part of your data sets:
ftp to:
archive.unavco.ucar.edu
Login as anonymous and provide email address as the password.
cd to pub/ps_out and look under the approiate YYYY/DOY (year/day).
The rinex files are in directories by day of the year, for example, day 96 is the Julian day for April 6th. The files for East Ogden Site will look similar to the following:
eout0960.98.Z
this file will unzip into two RINEX files 1) the nav file and 2) the obs file, both the nav & obs files are needed as a data set. The files will need to be obtained as binary via ftp and uncompressed to RINEX files.
Changes in the amount of time that the data is stored have been made by UNAVCO, check with them for data availability.
