 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

The Weber County Surveyor's Office has purchased equipment for a permanent GPS broadcast station.  The location for the equipment was secured with the aid of Snow Basin Resorts and the cooperation of the U.S. Forest Service.  The location is near the upper lift house for the Strawberry Ski run which is part of the Snow Basin Ski Resort in located in Northern Utah.  This location will provide radio correction signals for surveying grade RTK units.  The signal should be usable in most of Weber County, Morgan County, & North Davis County.  The data will be broadcast in RTCM format.

This site is operational and data is being collected and broadcast on a 24 / 7 / 365 basis.  The data will be automatically downloaded to the internet for the public to access from the NGS web site for static reduction data.

The range from the site that the RTK correction signal will be usable will depend on the specifications of the equipment which you utilize, however, according to product information a Leica 500 System (survey grade) receiver should be able to accurately survey up to a distance of up to a 30 Km radius from the station location.  This is also dependant on your ability to receive the radio correction signal as well.

We are not anticipating the system to be down or unavailable to the public, however, as with all electronic devices there is the potential that it will require maintenance or may have a power outage that will cause the information to be unavailable.  Should the station become unusable, the sign up procedure we have established to obtain the broadcast frequency will be utilized to notify the registered users of problems that could affect your ability to use the station.
